Life Story for Robert Harold "Bob" Widmann

Robert Harold "Bob"  Widmann
Robert “Bob” Harold Widmann, 83, of Greenwich Village, NY, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018. He was born on July 3, 1934 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, to Harold and Helen Widmann. Bob is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ernest R. Widmann. He is survived by his brother, Victor Widmann and wife Grazyna of E. Greenbush, NY, and their children Christopher of Apex, NC, and Barbara Fox of Saratoga Springs, NY, his sister-in-law, Marjorie Widmann (wife of Ernest) and her children Joanna of Denver, CO, Rudy of Bala Cynwyd, PA, and other family and friends.

Bob grew up in Dallas, PA, graduated from Westmoreland High School in 1953, Kings
College in Wilkes-Barre, PA, in 1957 and soon after received an advanced degree in
Communications from Syracuse University and Fordham University. Bob lived in Greenwich Village on Jane Street since 1959. He worked as a creative director for McCann Erikson and for other firms in the metropolitan area. In retirement, Bob taught basic computer science at New School University and the Community Senior Center. He was active in Village Visiting Neighbors and gave devoted care to his ailing mother. Bob was a lifelong learner and attended classes and seminars at NYU and the New School for philosophy, German, and history. Bob’s final years were dedicated to genealogical research and the restoration of the Greenwich Village neighborhood. He was a skilled writer and was often published in local New York City newspapers. Bob will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
