Obituary for William Patrick O'Donnell

William Patrick “Bill” O’Donnell, 80, a resident of Manhattan, NY and Delray Beach, FL, passed on March 21, 2016 after losing a battle with cancer. For more than 45 years, Bill had been owner of the Corner Bistro in Greenwich Village. He was also part-owner of a second Corner Bistro recently opened in Long Island City. He, like many of his patrons, was a familiar local personality in the West Village.

Bill was raised in Westwood, NJ and attended high school at Mount St. Michaels in the Bronx. After graduating from Hamilton College, he joined the United States Army and was stationed abroad. Upon his return, he purchased the Corner Bistro.

Pre-deceased by his parents, George and Madaliene, and brothers George and James O'Donnell, Bill is survived by his loving wife Lorraine, son Christopher and his wife, Sarah of Manhattan, and by daughter Elizabeth McGrath, her husband Donald McGrath, and his grandchildren Catherine and William McGrath all of Cutchogue, NY.

A wake will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016, from 2:00 to 5:00PM, at Redden’s Funeral Home, 325 West 14th Street, New York City.
