Life Story for Kazuhiro Kawashima

It is with great sadness that the family of Kazuhiro Kawashima announces his passing on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the age of 68. Kazuhiro will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Miki Kawashima Matrician and Yoko Kawashima, as well as his grandchildren Aidan and Elia Matrician.
Kazuhiro had a lifelong passion for learning and teaching Shorinji Kempo, a Japanese martial art involving hand-to-hand combat. He was also an avid student of Iaido, the art of the sword. Kazuhiro tirelessly strove for self-betterment and for a higher purpose in line with Buddhist beliefs. His zest for life was evident in his personal philosophy and dedication to his family, friends, and students.
A funeral service in memory of Kazuhiro will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at New York Buddhist Church. There will be a pre-funeral viewing of the casket starting at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow the funeral ceremony from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. to share memories and celebrate Kazuhiro’s life. Refreshments will be provided.
