Charles Williamson Dunn, 99, passed away Saturday, 1 February 2020 at home in New York City near Central Park. He was born 30 April 1920, in Sangamon County, to Richard Fredrick Dunn, II and Frances Nye Dunn. Charles graduated with a Bachelor of Music -- major in voice, from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. He then joined the Coast Guard and made 13 Atlantic crossing round-trips during WW II. After his discharge from Brooklyn Navy Yard, he began his diverse performing career -- combining Broadway, National Tours, concerts, opera, and singing as a soloist in church/synagogues. He began teaching voice at LIU in Brooklyn and created a private vocal studio in Manhattan. Celebration of Life will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, 23 February at Rutgers Presbyterian Church located at 236 W. 73rd St., New York City, NY 10023. A nice article in the New York Times about Charles's passing:

He will be missed.

Too many memories to share at one time. As a child, visiting the city with my sister, SallyAnn and our parents, to dinners on Lexington Avenue after I moved to the City to work at Mt. Sinai Hospital, as a dance partner for our mother after she moved East, when he danced or mother off her feet at her 86th Birthday party at The WILLIAMS; not to mention memories of his mother, and sister Louella and her three sons all of whom were also graduated from University High School.
