Obituary for Barbara Perrin

It is with great sadness that we have to convey the peaceful passing of Barbara M. Perrin at the age of 89 on September 11, 2021 in New York City. She was a resident of the Chelsea neighborhood in New York City. Barbara was born in Oneonta, NY on June 25, 1932, to her late parents Stephen Merritt and Harriet (Balter) Merritt. She was raised in Brewster, NY. Graduated from Brewster High School then went on to Cornell.
On September 23, 1960, Barbara married the love of her life Forrest (Lucky) Perrin. They were married for 40 years. Together they enjoyed many summers on Fire island, NY. They lived their entire married life in Chelsea. Her husband, Forrest, predeceased Barbara in 2001. Forrest was a writer for the NY Times. He was a fun, loving and had a charming personality along with being a dapper dresser.
Barbara worked many years for the "Cultured Pearl Association of America". She enjoyed working with all types of pearls and gems. She would light up everyone up with her smile and laughter . Barbara was an avid knitter, reader, photographer and music lover. She enjoyed living in NYC walking,shopping,visiting markets, museums,looking at art etc. Sher cherished her cats. She was a great traveler of foreign countries, especially Egypt, Africa & Thailand along with several others.
Barbara was also predeceased by her sister Phyllis Ross, nephews Todd Ross & Craig Ross of Brewster, NY. She is survived by her loving nieces Barbette Ross of Brewster,NY and Lorraine Ross of Ashford, CT along with her circle of very helpful, caring friends Susan McCarthy, Gordon Mac Gregor and several more. Barbara will certainly be missed. "We'll see you in our dreams"
