Obituary for Turhan C. Dixon

Turhan Clifford Dixon, Sr. was born on December 15, 1955 and raised in Harlem, New York. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School. Growing up, Turhan, loved Karate, and was a Third Degree black belt. Some of his favorite hobbies were skating, photography and watching movies. In 1975, he had a daughter, Latoya Dixon- Briggs. A few years later, in 1970, he met his beautiful future wife, Cecilia, at Brooklyn Miracle Temple. They married in 1980 after dating for ten years. They had three children, Turhan Jr., Terrell and Tanasia. Turhan was a devoted worker for companies like DHL, Purolater and SDS throughout the years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His infectious smile and laugh will live on forever. Turhan passed away at the age of 66 on January 4, 2022, at the Phoenix Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brooklyn, NY, after fighting a long battle with cancer, in which he handled with such amazing grace, bravery and strength.

Turhan is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Cecilia Dixon; two sons, Truhan Dixon, Jr., of Temple Texas and Terrell (Shante’) Dixon of Charlotte, NC; Two daughters, LaToya (Roscoe Sr./deceased) Dixon-Briggs of New York, NY, and Tanasia Dixon of New York, NY; eight grandchildren, Maribel, Jayden, Jada, Roscoe Jr., La’Nia, Marquis, Miyah, and Brielle; Two nephews, Clifton Terry and Colton Terry; Two sisters in law, Brenda Washington and Irene Foster. Turhan was predeceased by his mother, Irene Dixon, father, John Williams, sister Diane Dixon-Terry, brother Willie Dixon and grandson Takiyah Turan C. He also leaves behind a host of family members and friends.
