Obituary for John Minor Conner

John Minor Conner (85) passed away at CareOne Oradell Rehab Facility on May 19, 2022 following a lengthy hospitalization. John was born in Kansas City, MO to Donna Jean Lippelgoes and John M Conner, and grew up in the Leawood, KS area. He attended Shawnee Mission High School and earned a Bachelor of Music from Catholic University. He also earned a Master of Music from University of Southern California. John never married nor had children but was a completely devoted dog owner, having several Afghan Hounds and Kerry Blue Terriers throughout his life. He took pride in his dogs and is survived by his beloved and final dog Missy, a caramel-colored Chihuahua. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Melissa Dorssom. He is survived by his four nieces DeAun (Andy) Russell, Sarah (Tom) Malone, Cary Spangler, and Amy (Jeff) McKenna and 12 great nieces and nephews.

Throughout John’s life he lived in Kansas City, Los Angeles, Washington DC, New York City, and New Jersey. John devoted his life to music, specifically playing the organ, and was considered a world-class performer by many who knew his work. He played from the age of 13 until he was 84 years old, and played on many amazing organs, retiring only a year before his death. Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary the Virgin Church on June 6, 2022 145 W 46th St, New York, NY 10036 at 10 am. His final resting place will be at Brookside Cemetery in Englewood, NJ.
