Obituary for Julia McLaughlin

Julia-A familiar figure in the Off and Off-Off Broadway community on May 28, 2028. She was 77 years of age, daughter of the late Thomas and Hilda McLaughlin. Julia was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy. She won a full academic scholarship to Penn State University and graduated from the College of Arts and Architecture. At Penn State she developed her passion for art and theater. Julia arrived in New York in New York in 1967 to attend graduate school in Art History at Columbia University. After Columbia, she pursued a career in market research, eventually becoming the Director of Operations for Thurm Marketing & Consulting. Throughout the years Julia also maintained a busy and satisfying life in the theater. She originated roles for dozen of playwrights including Don and Rich Werbacher, David Foley, Dana Coen and Don Nigro. Over time she forged enduring relationships with a number of theater companies including The American Globe Theatre and The Village Theatre Company. Julia was devoted to her friends and her beloved pet cats. Friends and colleagues are invited to gather at St. Malachy’s- The Actors Chapel 239 West 49th Street on July 12, 2023 at 11:30 AM. A funeral Mass will be sung at 12 Noon. Her remains will be inurned at privately in the Columbarium at Cathedral Church of St, John the Devine.
