Obituary for Margaret Marie Brown

Margaret Marie Brown passed away peacefully after sudden illness at Mount Sinai West Hospital in New York City on Monday, July 18, 2016. She was a vibrant 91 years old always seeking to do the best for her family and those around her. She was the oldest of 7 children and is survived by her brother George Parrotte. Also, survived by her beloved sons, Roy Agoney and George Brown, her daughter-in-law, Meryl Brown, and her precious grandchildren, Douglas and Matthew Brown.
After completing her GED, she pursued continuing education to become a Real Estate Agent. Most of her work involved apartment sales in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It is also where she resided for many years while forming lasting relationships in the neighborhood. With her high energy and warm inviting smile with many people, she became known as “Peggy”. In retirement for 25 years, she became active especially with the Goddard Riverside Community Center where she volunteered in many capacities and was honored for her service. Additionally, she became a Poll Worker ensuring elections were adequately conducted and she lobbied at the Capitol in Albany for Senior Citizen’s issues. She worshiped her Catholic faith at the family parish, Saint Gregory the Great. Up until her final days, she could be seen going regularly to church especially to pray for others, and to light candles for them so God’s light could shine upon them and bring them from darkness. Her energy, optimism, and care for others will be missed.
